Text messages

You can run your whole Mishtatef account by text, and you never have to. This page is the whole of it: what we send, how you turn it on, and how you stop.

Effective August 7, 2026

Send START to (810) 670-8080 and run your Circle offline.

No app, no browser, no account first — one text and you can open a family gift, chip in, check what has come in and get paid back, all from the message thread. Texting us is itself the opt-in: our first message back names us and carries the disclosures below before anything else happens.

Message frequency varies based on activity. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.

01What we send, and how often

Mishtatef sends account notifications and group contribution updates to members who have asked for them: a request to chip in to a family gift, a code confirming your number, notice that a charge did not go through, a payout waiting on your approval.

Message frequency varies based on activity. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.

We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Message frequency follows your Circle’s activity — a quiet month is a quiet phone.

02How you turn it on

Texting is off until you ask for it. You add a mobile number to your profile, tick the box below, and we send a six-digit code to that number; entering the code is what proves the number is yours. Until all three have happened we do not text you, and your account works exactly the same if you never turn it on.

Run your account by text

Verify the number above and you can text Mishtatef to check a balance, give, or add people — no app needed.

Text me a code
The opt-in as it appears in the product, at Profile → Texting, once you are signed in. Shown here so it can be read without an account; the box and the button are live only on that page. The button stays disabled until the box is ticked — consent is what sends the code, not a step you can skip past.

The first and only message that ticking the box earns is the code itself, word for word (the digits here are a stand-in):

Mishtatef: your code is 123456. It expires in 10 minutes.

Entering the code back into the page completes the opt-in. A member who never replies has received exactly this one message and nothing further.

There is one other way in, and it starts with you: send START to (810) 670-8080. This is the whole of that first exchange — the reply is fixed copy, not something written per person:

START

Hi! This is Mishtatef — group gifting, done right. Already have an account? Text me the email address on it. New here? Reply NEW and I'll set you up. Message frequency varies based on activity. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.

Texting us first is itself the consent — nothing is ever sent to a number that has not written to us. The conversation goes on only if you reply, and every message of it can be ended with STOP.

These screens are also hosted as plain images, for a review process that asks for a screenshot link rather than a page: the consent checkbox, the code it sends, the START exchange, and this page as one image.

Either way, the wording you agreed to is stored with your consent — not a tick in a box, the sentence itself — so a question about what you were told is answered with what you actually read.

03How you stop

  • Reply STOP to any message and the messages end. We reply once to confirm — “Mishtatef: you are unsubscribed and will get no further messages. Reply START to turn them back on.” — and then nothing further.
  • Reply START to turn them back on.
  • Reply HELP for help. The reply is “Mishtatef: group gifting, done right. Help: support@mishtatef.com. Reply STOP to cancel. Msg & data rates may apply.
  • Or remove the number under Profile → Texting, which stops the messages and drops the number from your account.

STOP, START and HELP are decided in code on the whole message, before anything else reads it. They work on every message we send, whatever it otherwise says.

04Your number is not shared

Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent — we do not share them, with anyone, ever. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Every category of sharing described in our Privacy Policy excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent.

Carrier fees may apply to messages you send and receive. Mishtatef does not charge you for text messages.

The full detail is in the Privacy Policy under “Text messages and your mobile number”, and in our Terms of Service. Questions about any of it: support@mishtatef.com.
